What is craft?

Craft or craftsmanship is a method of making objects with specific functions: worn, eaten or drunk. It was considered a more secondary art form than painting and sculpture because articles were also design techniques commonly used by women, which led to their low status. The term craft refers to the skills used in decorative arts (such as ceramics) in related art practices (such as lace weaving). One of the fundamental characteristics of the process is that it is the ability to operate the machine and a high degree of hands-on ability (hence the popular name skills).

Benefits of craft making

  • Anyone who likes to relax in creative activities, whether knitting, embroidery, quilting or crocheting, understands how incredible it is to relieve tension and accumulated pressure. Achieve a Zen-like state of mind and body through yoga or meditation. Just like mindfulness meditation, handmade Käsitöö can help you keep your mind clear and calm.

  • The act of creating something convenient and elegant with one’s own hands can have an enormous impact on a person’s self-esteem. Immerse yourself in your creativity and acquire artistic and technical skills that give you a feeling of determination outside of work or home life. It is a prolific and fun experiment, and it reminds people of what they can make.
  • From dreaming of ideas for a project to step-by-step follow-up to completion, the entire process can improve your ability to concentrate and endure complicated situations. Working through rhythmic and accurate production steps (knitting, stitching, crocheting, embroidery, patterning and putting gems) often helps to strengthen your mental and physical fitness over time.

Even if it’s your first time mastering a skill, it can be patiently ambitious to craft, no matter how many times you try to put your project to life.
